Goodmorning you all!

A new day and last day in Mexico has arrived. Today is the last full day of the holiday tomorrow we fly home and Thursday working life will start again :-s!

But first things first. The last time I wrote something we were about to leave El Remate close to Tikal. The next destination was belize, we hoped it would be a higlight of the trip. The trip to the island where we were staying was early but in 5 hours we arrived on the island. We stayed on the island Caye Caulker, famous for the dive stops and the carribean life style. The moment you get of the boat there is a sign on the road that says “Go Slow”! And it’s true everything goes very slow…. We hoped the weather would be nice after all te rain we had but we were unlucky, well in howfar you can be unlucky when you are staying on an island in the Carribean.

So as mentioned at the port we got ourself in the lifestyle of the island and for the comming days we did everything very relaxed. I did a couple of dives and Rutger joined us for snorkeling. During the dives we have seen Mantarays, turtles, barracudas and and a lot more. The next day we decided to do a snorkeling trip which is going to be one of the highlights. We went to 3 stops, the first and last we went around the reef of Belize, it’s the second largest after Australia, but the second stop was he best we ever did! During this stop we were in the water with Nurse sharks, eagle rays and another ray I forgot the name of. The rays and sharks were swimming up to us, between our legs and we could touch them. It was really strange to jump in the water with all these animals around us but it was one of the best things we did in the last weeks.

The next day we took the boat to Tulum, back to Mexico. This was the place where we were going to visit the last Maya site. The day we arrived there was a an national party because of the celebration of becomingindependence. On the square in Tulum there was something to do so we went there for a while to celebrate with the Mexicans, they don’t do it like us. They shout a few times “Viva Mexico”, which was impressive to see and hear, and there was a performance of a famous international artist who we all didn’t know.

The next day we went to the maya site of Tulum, it is know for the only site that is at the see. It is a very nice site, but while walking around we found out we had seen more than enough sites the last couple of weeks. So after walking around for a couple of hours and swimming we went to the beach.

The next day we left to Playa del Carmen, you can say that this place is like Salou in Spain. A lot of tourists, good nightlife and a beach. Because it is the last stop before flying home we decided to do nothing here. We have been on the way more than enough so a couple of relaxingbeach days at the end is quite nice. The only thing we, Rutger, did was sailing!

So for now I will stop, hope you enjoyed following us this time and see you all the coming weeks.
